Class Descriptions

2024-2025 Program

TEMPLE TOTS

This program is designed for 2 year-olds to explore oneself through motor skills, creative movement, and group activities, while utilizing large and small muscle groups.

 

PRE-BALLET & TAP

Introduces independence, self confidence, listening skills, and all aspects of motor development. Creative movements, pre-ballet & tap technique, routines with and without songs will be utilized each week.

 

PRIMARY BALLET & TAP

This program is designed to teach young children pre-ballet technique at the ballet barre’ and define motor skills. Classical ballet routines and proper stretching will be utilized each week. Tap technique along with routines will be taught weekly.

 

BALLET

Traditional study of classical ballet utilizing the Checetti method. Ballet barre’ and centre’ floor technique will be utilized each week. Ballet routines will be taught beginning in January for the spring performance

TAP

This form of dance emphasizes fast footwork and rhythms. Tap technique and routines will be taught each week. Students are placed in a class time according to ability and past tap experience.

 

BALLET II - INTERMEDIATE I

At this age, students are ready to enter formal ballet training. Concentration and hard work will help them to define the art of ballet. This level will also help prepare for Pointe shoes. Students will need to stay at this level for at least two years before advancing into pointe class.

 

JAZZ

This form of dance will introduce different styles of Jazz technique and jazz routines. Styles will include: Lyrical, Broadway, Character (Street, Country and Latin). Music will consist of Contemporary Christian, Broadway Musicals, Country, and Latino. “Top 40” music will not be included.

 

INTERMEDIATE II - ADVANCED (DIRECTOR RECOMMENDATION ONLY!)

These classes are designed for students who are ready for pointe work. This class will consist of 30 minuets ballet barre’, 45 minutes of Centre floor, pointe work, and routines for performances. Must attend two classes each week in order to properly advance strength and technique.
